Concrete typically comes bagged in weights of 40, 50, 60 and 80 pounds. Standard concrete is offered in every weight but some specialty mixes are only offered in lighter weights.

When your at a store like Home Depot, you may notice the concrete pallets are sometimes wrapped in plastic with a number on them written in marker. This is the number of bags on the pallet. Sometimes stores will order an odd number or add leftover bags from another pallet onto a fresh one. This can create odd numbers.

If you need a specific amount of concrete bags on a pallet, the store can “add to”, or “take away from” the amount of bags on a standard pallet. They’ll usually do this when you need a few more bags than a standard pallet holds rather than deliver two pallets.

## Specialty Concrete Mixes On A Pallet

Quikrete and Sakrete are both popular brands of concrete mix that you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes. Each brand offers different concrete mixes with special properties in addition to the standard mix.

Below are a few examples with bag weights and the average price per bag. To find out how many concrete bags of each mix comes on a pallet reference the chart above.

Concrete bags are placed on a pallet by weight, it has nothing to do with the mix. For example, 42 bags of 80 lbs standard concrete are on a full pallet. 42 bags of 80lbs. Quikrete 5000 concrete mix also come on a full pallet. This is because the weight per bag is the same.

- Ready to Use Concrete Mix. 40, 60, and 80 lbs bags. $4.99 per bag.
- Fast Setting Concrete Mix. 50 lbs bags. $5.25 per bag.
- Quikrete 5000 Concrete Mix. 60 or 80 lbs bags. $7.99 per bag.
- Crack Resistant Concrete Mix. 60 and 80 lbs bags. 6.5o per bag.
- Countertop Mix. 80 lbs bags. $19.99 each.
- Mortar Mix. 10, 40, 60, or 80 lbs bags. $7.99 per bag.
- Mason Mix. 60 or 80 lbs bags. $6.50 per bag.

It’s important to know the type of concrete you’ll need as well as the amount of bags. Think about how you’ll be moving the bags around. This can help you decide on which bag size is best. For larger projects I get 80 lbs bags and mix 2-3 at a time in my mixer. A typical side walk project may take 2-3 pallets of concrete to complete.

However, for smaller projects like concrete countertops, I prefer smaller 50lbs bags and usually only order 1/2 a pallet.

## How Many 80 lb. Bags Of Concrete Are On A Pallet?

80 lbs. bags of concrete is the standard bag size you’ll be using on most projects. The strength we use sometimes varies but we use 80 lbs bags for almost everything. So it’s good to get familiar with what a full pallet looks like, the amount of bags it carries, and how much area you’ll be able to cover.

It’s also a good idea to figure out in advance how you’ll be transporting the pallet and bags. I’d recommend a Bobcat if you can afford one. It makes masonry so much easier.

**Normally you’ll get 42 bags of 80 lbs concrete on a pallet.**

The 60 lb. bags of concrete mix have 56 bags on a pallet while the 40 lb. bags have 80 on a pallet.

## How Many 50 lb. Bags Of Concrete Are On A Pallet?

Quikrete sells their Fast Setting Concrete Mix and Quikrete 5000 High Early Strength Mix in 50 lb. bags. You should also get familiar with working with some specialty mixes because they really come in handy.

**64 bags of 50 lb. concrete come on a pallet.**

Check with your local store before ordering to confirm the amount of bags you’ll get per pallet. Sometimes they stock weird numbers for the specialty mixes because they don’t sell as much.

## How Many 60 lb. Bags Of Concrete Are On A Pallet?

Regular concrete mix, Crack Resistant concrete mix, and Quikrete 5000 all come in 60 lb. bags.

**56 bags of 60 lb. concrete come on a pallet.
**

I typically don’t buy regular concrete mixes in 60 lbs bags because I get the standard 80 lbs. for a full pallet. I sometimes do use the 60 lbs bags but in small amounts so a full pallet isn’t needed. The crack resistant concrete mix however is great. For some jobs it works really well so a full pallet may be needed.

## How Many Bags Of Sakrete Are On A Pallet?

The number of Sakrete Concrete Mix bags on a pallet are generally the same as Quikrete. The brand is different but everything else is typically the same.

## Coverage

On average, an 80 pound bag of concrete covers 45 cubic feet. While a 60 pound bag of concrete will cover 30 cubic feet. No matter how much area you plan to cover, or what type of concrete mix you choose, be sure to leave room for error. I always buy a bag or two extra just in case.

It’s important to understand coverage when calculating how many bags of concrete to order on a pallet. If you buy Quikrete or Sakrete Concrete from a store like Home Depot or Lowes, they will usually let you return bags as long as they’re not damaged or open.

If you order too many bags and want to store them, make sure to wrap the bags in plastic so they don’t dry out.

Measure your job and figure out how much concrete you need for the area your working on. Then figure out which mix you need, the bag weight and finally the number of bags you’ll need. This will tell you how many bags of concrete come on a pallet and how many pallets you’ll need to order. It’s all very easy once you’ve done it once or twice.

## How Much Does A Pallet Of Concrete Weigh?

## What Does A Pallet Of Concrete Cost?

This table will give you a general idea of what a pallet of concrete costs at the time I wrote this post. Expect prices to change over time. It also matters where and when you buy the concrete mix. Shop around because someone will usually have these bags on sale.

Bulk ordering also matters. Most supplier will give you a discount when you order full pallets rather than by the bag.

Also expect to pay sales tax. Here in New Jersey our sales tax is 7% but there are designated areas where sales tax is only 3 1/2%. This can save a lot when your order thousands of dollars worth of material.
