Gabled Sunroom

Gabled sunrooms have a roofline that’s shaped like the letter A, which is why they’re also called A-frames. Both sides of the roof pitch inward and meet at a central point in the middle of the room. They provide tons of natural sunlight if you pair them with cathedral ceilings and lots of glass. The ceiling can be vaulted to allow more light in, more fresh air flow, and a sense of grandeur that sunrooms with a flat ceiling can’t match.

Gable-style sunrooms are among the most common designs we build because they can butt up perfectly to the exterior wall of a house or integrate into an existing roofline.

We’re one of the few sunroom contractors in NJ that builds on a solid foundation, just like the rest of your house, with the bonus of lots of glass. Because our sunrooms are built to the same standard as your home and are climate-controlled, they can be used year-round in any weather.

A Gambrick sunroom can be designed to match the look of your home, or it can be something unique that stands out. Each of our sunrooms is 100% custom-built and tailor-fit to the client’s style, needs, and budget.

Because of all the added sunlight, your sunroom may get warm in the summer, so blinds are always a nice touch. To add coziness in the winter, add a fireplace. Want even more natural light? Add some skylights or a full glass roof. But to truly bring the outdoors in, decorate the room with plants and add sliding glass walls for a true indoor/outdoor experience.

What Is a Gable Sunroom?

A gable sunroom has a roof consisting of two equal sections that meet at a central point in the middle of the room. It’s the most common roof shape in cold or temperate climates because water easily runs off it. The roof is constructed of rafters, roof trusses, or purlins. The pitch of a gable roof can vary greatly and it can be built with a cathedral, tray, flat, or vaulted ceiling design.

The most common sunroom roof we build is the gable. Most sunrooms use it because it’s very easy to integrate into an existing home and looks great on just about any style house.

Gambrick sunrooms are built as a true addition to your home with a full foundation. This makes them strong enough to allow for a fully vaulted cathedral ceiling that includes lots of glass. This isn’t something you can achieve from a cheap sunroom kit.

Why Add a Gable Sunroom?

Gable roofs are very versatile and work with pretty much any home style. They’re also easy to build, affordable, and can accommodate a variety of ceilings including vaulted, cathedral, tray, or flat.

Gables deal with water extremely well. If you live in a cold climate that gets snow and ice, or somewhere that sees heavy rainfall, a gable is worth considering.

Here are four of the most fantastic benefits of installing a gable sunroom in your home:

1. Additional Space

Gambrick’s gable sunrooms can be built with a standard flat ceiling, a tray ceiling, or vaulted to add more height and larger windows. High ceilings create extra wall space for more windows, a chimney, or decor. More windows means more natural light, which is a huge benefit for a sunroom.

When a gable roof is paired with a vaulted ceiling, the extra height and airiness create a space where you can comfortably spread out and relax.

Because of the additional height, you can install larger light fixtures, chandeliers, ceiling fans, more skylights, and lots of high windows to let in even more light from higher angles. This creates the illusion of outdoor lighting in an indoor space.

2. Stunning Aesthetics

A gable roof paired with high ceilings has an air of elegance and sophistication that standard ceiling heights can’t match. Vaulted ceilings allow for more brightness and add character to the home. They bring new design elements into play like exposed beams, chandeliers, hanging fans, pendants, high windows, or more skylights.

A gable roofline with vaulted ceilings is a way to add something special to a home that has standard-height ceilings. The design truly stands out and makes a lasting impression.

3. Natural Light

As a top sunroom contractor in NJ, we’ll design a dream space for enjoying all four seasons with the benefit of being indoors. You’ll appreciate sunny days and cold nights with lots of natural light at just the right temperature.

Natural light can provide both mental and physical health benefits for you and your family. You might notice that you have more energy, improved sleep, and reduced seasonal depression when you spend more time soaked in natural light. It can even reduce the health risks associated with exposure to fluorescent lighting.

A sunroom is also an excellent place for growing and maintaining beautiful and healthy plants. You can plant species native to hot and humid climates and enjoy gorgeous blooms throughout the year.

4. Increased Home Resale Value

A sunroom built by Gambrick can significantly increase your home’s resale value because it adds square footage to the home. Since sunrooms tend to be on the pricey side, it’s easy to recoup more of the construction expenses, making sunrooms a great financial investment for homeowners in terms of ROI.
