Sledge hammers and other farm tools have been made with wood handles for centuries and they’ve always been very effective and reliable.

Fiberglass is a new material that’s intended to replace wood. It’s strong and flexible but doesn’t have the same feel as a wood handle.

Both are prone to break near the head on a bad hit, and when that happens wood handles are easier and cheaper to replace.

Overall, I prefer a wood handle for my sledgehammers rather than fiberglass.
