What’s A Bluetooth Enabled TV?
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology that’s used to exchanging data between devices over short distances. It’s a universal technology that most wireless devices share, such as computers, laptops, TVs, smartphones, speakers, remote controls and gaming consoles. Bluetooth is a great feature to have on a TV because many of your other devices will work with the TV once you pair them.
Bluetooth is wireless, fast and enables you to stream content or connect devices to your TV without the hassle of using third-party components, adapters, or long cables.
- Bluetooth TVs can connect to Bluetooth headphones, speakers, remote controls, smartphones and many other devices without wires.
For example, I have a set of wireless headphones that I use on my phone, laptop, desktop and TV. Because all my devices have Bluetooth, I can use the headphones wherever I want. There’s no need to buy separate headphones for each device.
A Bluetooth enabled TV can detect Bluetooth devices around it, this makes pairing the device to the television very easy to do. Once the device is paired, the TV remembers the device, which makes using it again, fast and easy to do.
For permanently installed hardware, like a soundbar or wireless surround sound speakers, once you connect them to your Bluetooth enabled TV, they stay connected. Whenever you turn on the TV and speakers, they’ll work together. You don’t have to pair them every time you want to use them. The devices remember that they’ve already been paired and immediately work.

The biggest benefit of having a Smart TV with Bluetooth is eliminating wires. It’s much easier to hook up additional hardware to your TV if you don’t have wires to consider and a cleaner look. Old fashioned surround sound speakers required running wires from the speakers back to the TV. This meant snaking wires under carpets and around furniture. But if you have a Smart TV with Bluetooth and Bluetooth enabled speakers, the setup is completely wireless and very easy to do.
