How To Change The Screensaver On LG TV

Almost all LG TV models come with a screensaver preinstalled when you purchase the TV. The purpose of the screensaver image is to prevent screen burn in which prolongs the life of your screen. Burn in happens when a single image stays on the screen for too long. This is different than a Wallpaper TV which are designed to showcase a single image, like a piece of artwork, for long periods of time. LG TV screensavers are a safety measure that protects your screen by automatically activating whenever a static image is detected. Unfortunately, you can’t change the screensaver that came programmed with your LG TV. However, you can choose between the pre-programmed screensaver, a slideshow from a gallery of pre-programmed images, or no screensaver at all.

To choose which screensaver you’d like to show, navigate to the gallery on your TV and choose the photographs you want it to use. On most LG models, the screensaver can only be turned on and off in the service menu. Although you can’t customize the screensaver to show a custom image, you can manually turn the screensaver off or enter Gallery mode to display pre-programmed images instead.

The reason why LG does not allow you to showcase any image you want is to prevent damage to the screen. The LG TV screensaver mode is a safety feature designed to protect the screen. The images pre-programmed into the TV are carefully selected by LG and are safe to show on the screen for long periods of time. How To Turn LG TV Screensaver On/Off?

I do not recommend turning screensaver mode off. And some LG TVs don’t even allow you to do it. Screensaver is a safety function that helps prevent burn in. If you turn it off, your TV will be more vulnerable to screen burn in when a static image stays on the screen for too long.

If you do not see a “Screensaver” option inside the TV “Menu” or “General Settings”, it means your model LG TV does not allow you to alter the screensaver settings or it doesn’t have a screensaver mode built in.

Can I Change An LG TV’s Screensaver?

No, you can’t change an LG TV’s screensaver. The images come pre-programmed in the TV by the manufacturer. There is no way to add custom screen saver images to the TV. However, there are typically multiple screensaver images built into the TV which you can choose from. In addition, most LG TV models have a gallery mode which allows the TV to cycle between images like a slideshow.

Unfortunately, the only screensaver choices you have with most LG TVs are the ones that come pre-programmed with the TV. At the moment, LG does not allow you to upload custom images to use as a screensaver.

Can You Add A Custom Screensaver To Your LG TV?

No, you can not add a customer screensaver image to an LG TV. LG doesn’t allow you to upload your own images as a screensaver or to download new images from the web. The only images you can use as a screensaver come pre-programmed in the TV from the factory. But if you’d like to display more than one image as a slideshow, you can use the TVs gallery mode.

Once gallery mode is on, the TV will cycle through the pre-programmed gallery images like a slideshow. You can also set up your own custom gallery by selecting images from the pre-programmed pictures loaded in the TV.

Not all LG TV models have gallery mode. If yours does, it will be located in the TVs settings under “Gallery”.

How To Use The LG TV Photo Gallery

Even though you can’t change or upload custom images to use as an LG TV’s screensaver, you can turn on a picture gallery mode as your screensaver instead of a static image. The gallery will cycle through images pre-programmed into the TV like a slideshow.

Most LG TV models come with a series of digital photographs pre-programmed into the TV called the OLED gallery images, which demonstrate the picture quality and clarity of the TV.

The gallery images are preset and come programmed with the TV, you can’t upload your own images or download new one from the web.

Here’s how to access the pre-programmed OLED photo gallery on your LG TV:

Press the “Home” button on your remote.
Navigate to “Gallery” and click on your favorite images. You can’t upload or download new photos to the gallery, but you can choose which ones to show as a screensaver.
Scroll through the images and select the ones you want to include in your gallery.
When you’re all finished selecting images, click “OK”. Once you click “OK”, the TV should start cycling through the images you selected.

When you shop for TVs in person at a store like Best Buy, they generally display lots of beautiful and bright HD images which showcase the quality of the screen. These are generally the TVs pre-programmed gallery images. You can have your TV perform the same function at home by turning the gallery on in your settings.

The LG TV OLED Photo Gallery

Some LG OLED Smart TVs have pre-programmed galleries for you to choose from. They’re full of beautiful images which showcase the power and quality of the display. Each gallery is full of images from a particular theme.

Once inside the TVs “Gallery” settings, you can select from one of the following themes:

Masterpiece: Images of famous works of art.
Meditation: Soothing images with relaxing color palettes.
Scenery: Vibrant images of scenery from various places around the world.

Unfortunately, you can only choose a single gallery theme. LG does not give you the option to make your own gallery from the images. Once you select a theme, the TV will display images from the group as a slideshow.

OLED Photo Gallery mode is only available on LG TVs with OLED technology. If your LG TV model doesn’t have an OLED screen, you can;t use the OLED photo gallery feature.

How To Use The LG TV OLED Photo Gallery

If you have an LG TV with an OLED screen, its very easy to turn on and off. Here’s how:

Press the “Home” button: This will will bring up a menu which you can scroll through using your remote.
Select “Gallery”: Once you select “Gallery”, you’ll be able to choose from one of three themes, Masterpiece, Meditation or Scenery. Each theme contains various pictures which pertain to the theme.
Pres “OK”: Once you find a theme you like, press “OK”. The TV will now begin cycling through the images inside the theme.

Unfortunately, you can’t customize any of the themes, mix and match images or upload new pictures.

How To Turn Off The Screensaver On An LG OLED TV

LG OLED model TVs do not allow you to turn off the screensaver mode. It’s a safety feature that helps prevent damage to the screen. But if you have a non-OLED LG TV, you can turn the screensaver off.

Here’s how:

Press the “Menu” button: An LG TV remote will either have a button with a gear icon or the work menu printed on it. Pressing it brings up the LG menu.
Click “Settings”: Scroll through the menu and click “Settings”.
Select “General Settings”: Once inside the “Settings menu”, scroll down and select “General Settings”.
Click “Screen Saver”: If your model LG TV has a screen saver mode, this is where you’ll be able to turn it off and on.
